Quoin was founded in 1990 by prominent business and technical leaders in Ridgecrest, California who envisioned early growth based on increased outsourcing of DoD activities by the Navy. The market focus was primarily federal engineering services with the target market being nearby China Lake Naval Weapons Center and major contractors. With military downsizing and reduced budgets affecting major federal contractors, the entire DoD market has seen a nationwide push to transfer technology from the military to civilian applications. DoD goals are to actively assist industry in developing commercial markets for military technology. The impetus behind this trend rests with DoD’s need to reduce costs by purchasing more products “off-the-shelf” instead of relying on manufacturing in house. They will, in turn, be able to maintain technological readiness at a lower cost to the government. In view of this trend, Quoin adjusted its focus to include high-opportunity commercial markets while maintaining established military ties. This created a market niche and allowed the company to diversify to include technology transfer for commercial applications, while continuing to service the military market. The major focus is on direct internal technology development rather than simply providing engineering support to other prime contractors. Quoin International, Inc. Is a privately held Nevada Corporation located in Carson City California. We employ an average of 35people including engineers, production personnel, management and office staff. As a company that depends on a variety of engineering skills for client projects as well as technology development activities, it is critical to maintain a staff of professionals who specialize in several disciplines.
